Mens Basketball Notebook
The month of December has not been to kind to the Mavericks men’s basketball team. They started the month off with a home game against Nyack. Despite the heroic effort of senior Chaz Morrish who scored 16 points and dished out 6 assists the Mavericks fell short and lost the game 76-64. Sophomore sensation Nate Stitchell also contributed with10 points and 5 assists. For the Mavericks this was their 6th loss in a row. After a week off the Mavericks hosted Wilmington (Del.) in a non conference matchup. It was one of the most competitive games the Mavericks have played this season. It was a game of runs as both teams battled back and fourth to capture the win. Senior Olajide Keshinro recorded his first career double double scoring 12 points and grabbing 14 rebounds and sophomore Nate Stitchell, who continues to impress everybody, scored 12 points and added 6 assists and 6 steals, but that was still not enough to pull off the victory as the Mavericks lost in overtime 69-62. The next opponent for the Mavericks was a showdown on the road with conference rivals District of Columbia. Senior Olajide Keshinro scored a career high 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds and senior LeBrandon Smith scored 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, but the Mavericks suffered yet another defeat, losing to District of Columbia by a score of 83-66. This was the 8th loss in a row for the Mavericks, who will try and bounce back on December 18th at 7:00 p.m. where they are on the road getting set to battle conference foe Dowling
