As we grow the scary day turns into a new day to dread. Where people are no longer terrified of a vampire but instead how a batter sees an umpire.
Has Halloween turned hallow as we grow up? Has the spirit gone away with modern times?
Is the treat of Halloween older or a harder trick to pull off to be scared and entertained?
Nikki who took a “monsters” english class when asked about her thoughts about Halloween and what makes her scream.
She replied, “I love it because I like scary stuff.” That is why she joined the class.
But when asked what she was scared of she said, “Heights.”
I am surprised the thing that scares her is something is that acrophobia, one of the most common fears for people. Sadly this Halloween she would be working.
She said, “Nothing out of the ordinary, just going out trick and treating and swapping candies with my cousins.”
Is it work, the thing adults do the rest of the year that causes the lack of joy in the air?
When asked Jacqueline Rivas, someone who works in a hospital who does bloodwork, with her sticking needles into patient to later get the results, she said he has seen a drug addict come and go similar to her age.
Sweet candies turn into Karen demanding, screaming, and shouting to get out of their bed under the full moon.
This has made her unfazed to a lot of stuff but she continues to get a thrill from shows like “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Squid Game,” and “La Llorona.”
But this year she has seen the latest “Scream” and fourth and fifth movies in the series. Going to work at the Trunk n Treat in Ardsley.
Maybe this is the key?
I asked Edwin if he still enjoys and celebrates but his reasons aren’t exactly black and white. Instead I found someone with a sick sense of humor.
“I like Halloween for the bad movies on TV, not really heading out.”
Later when asked what was his favorite bad movie was, he said, “My Soul to Take.”
Even provided me with some background information. It was made by Wes Craven who made both “Scream” and “Nightmare on Elm Street.”
Sadly he could only carve a slice of time from his busy schedule to write me this moment.
I prefer the “Hocus Pocus” and “Halloweentown” reruns.
Ameera, a college student at Westchester Community College, said she doesn’t enjoy wearing costumes and watching horror movies ever since she was little.
But she considers Halloween cool. She loves to see the Halloween themed artwork on X.
I will be dragging her through hell as we go to the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” movie Friday.

People are forming mobs to go see the film to see if a thrill and for hardcore fans try to preforming dissection to gather notes to figure out how the structure (or for me doing it owl pellets for rat bones) that the franchise holds or have a casual good time.
Even though it is a different canon to the game.
Later going transitioning from the physical to the digital to gather with everyone who bought one of the copies 10.67 million copies of “Splatoon 3” from March of 2023 to join to make the ultimate decision.
Fighting in all out war with friend and other turn into enemy if they make a different choice as everyone duke it out in all out Splatwar to decide.

While trick or treating may be for the kids, others find ways to enjoy the holiday. It might not be the day to make everyone scream their head off but laugh to have a good time.
As we get older Halloween may be harder to celebrate but with advancement in technology and with enough time allow everyone to enjoy and sing along to the pumpkin song.
Maybe Cuban Pete a.k.a The Mask may be on to something. SpongeBob’s original equation of funny equals scary is the way to make the holiday a fun day.
But for now, I have played Michael Jackson “Thriller” in the background and getting ready for the thirty first.
