Be a Mav in the Stands!

Be a Mav in the Stands!

It’s finally here! The return of Mercy sports and you can get in on the action. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic fans will not be able to attend Men’s and Women’s basketball games this season. But, the Mercy athletic department is taking a page out of Major league baseball’s playbook by placing cardboard cutouts in the stands of the victory gym during basketball games this season.

Anyone can submit their picture to be turned into a cardboard cutout that will sit in the stands come this season here is how you can do so:

Step 1: Wear your Mercy Mavericks gear (optional)

Step 2: Recruit someone to take your photo (No selfies)

Step 3: Find a well-lit area with a blank wall behind you

Step 4: Aim from the waist up, keep your arms down and smile big!

Step 5: Upload your photo to the link in your acknowledgment email.

If you are a Faculty member, staff member, or a student it will cost $20 for one cutout while alumni and people who don’t attend the college will pay $30 with $10.50 of that being donated to the athletics program.

The Mercy Men’s basketball team was supposed to open up the season on Monday, February 1st against Bryant & Stratton College but it was postponed due to inclement weather expected to hit Westchester County and the surrounding areas. Their next home game is on Saturday, February 13 against Molloy College. While the Women’s team has their home opener against St. Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday, February 6th at 1 PM.

You can watch the team’s live streams at Mercy athletics.com
