My Wild Halloween Weekend

My+Wild+Halloween+Weekend

“Absolutely wild,” are the two words I would use, to sum up, my Halloween weekend.

For Halloween this year, my friends and I went to the Poconos in Pennsylvania from Thursday the 29th, to Sunday, Nov. 1st.

I drove up with two of my friends. It was a long three-plus hour drive. Traffic was not too bad, but the weather was terrible. It was pouring rain the whole drive up.

We got there around 3:30 in the afternoon, and I immediately cracked open a beer. I probably should have eaten something first, because on the drive up I decided not to stop for food. Which was a mistake, because when I got to the house I was starving.

More people arrived later in the night and we drank till the early hours in the morning.

We played beer pong, baseball, and hockey. We chatted on the deck and finished off way too many drinks. The first night was full of poor decisions. I mean, we were planning on making poor decisions, it is a vacation for us.

I was so exhausted I did not even sleep in a bed that night. I wound up passing out on the floor in my bedroom because one of my friends decided to take the bed.

I woke up feeling like absolute crap the next morning. Not just because I was hungover, but cold as well. The downstairs part of the house was freezing. I looked outside and saw it was snowing. Eventually, we figured out how to turn the heat on and we were all toasty for the rest of the trip, except when we were outside on the deck in 30-degree weather.

On Friday morning people began to gradually wake up, and by 10 a.m. most people had gotten out of bed. We all decided to make a bunch of eggs, bacon, sausage, and toast, for breakfast. After eating most people showered or went back to bed for a couple of hours.

By the afternoon, everyone was dressed and ready for another night of debauchery. One of my friends started earlier than most of us, way earlier. But somehow, he made it all the way to 4 a.m. before passing out in his room.

The rest of us just chatted, played drinking games, and partied our butts off. My friend who organized the trip decided to buy over 20 pizza pies. Five grandma pies, and a bunch of plain and pepperoni pies.

I think I ate about five slices of pizza that night. One of my friends, Dana, decided to take a whole pie to her room. She and my other friend Dina ate the whole pie to themselves. Power move right there.

I went to bed at around 4 a.m. I did not sleep well because my two other friends decided to sleep in the queen bed with me. We were sharing the room, but it was definitely uncomfortable.

The next night was the big night, Halloween. We were all overly excited to show off our costumes to each other. The theme was the 90s and early 2000s, and everyone nailed their costumes, they were all amazing.

Some of the girls were pop stars, Ginger Spice from Spice Girls, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera. My friend Nicole and her boyfriend Austin were Cosmo and Wanda from Nickelodeon’s The Fairly Oddparents.

Then we had some of the characters from the 2004 movie, Napoleon Dynamite. My friend Sean was Napoleon, his girlfriend was Deb, one guy was Uncle Rico, and another was Kip. Sean really got into the character and acted like Napoleon for almost the entire night.

My costume got a lot of praise. I really do not like to dress up, so I decided to be Wilson from Home Improvement. The costume only required a flannel, a bucket hat, and a small fence made from popsicle sticks that I could cover my face with.

All in all, the weekend was a huge success. The worst day was probably Sunday. We decided to do late checkout, so we had more time to clean, we definitely needed it because we didn’t finish cleaning the house till 5 p.m.

The Halloween weekend of 2020 is definitely one I will never forget, even though some of my friends probably don’t remember much.
