Dearest Gentle Readers,
I have never been to an experience that was Bridgerton-themed or based on a Netflix show. I never even thought I could go to one given how popular Bridgerton is.
Bridgerton is known for it’s love stories and tea parties that are based during the Regency era where rich singles would be courted by other rich young individuals in seasons. This was like dating, but instead of a dating app, there would be balls and promenading around the park to name a few social gatherings. I expected nothing less when I walked past the outside event to wait in line that wrapped around the block. The only regret I had was not dressing up. How could I have known that such an event would be held when I found out twenty-four hours earlier. It’s not like I had a Regency-inspired dress sitting around in my closet.
Whilst waiting in line patiently I couldn’t help, but notice everything within my surroundings and the confusion on people’s face when seeing the line. Some said the actor who plays Antony appeared in the first hour, and others say it was girls getting excited because the event had just opened.
Once inside characters greeted you and would hand you the latest copy of Lady Whisltedown that read the activities and the itinerary. The first thing I made sure to do was to grab a note with a ribbon that you could hang on the tree for others to read.
I wrote, “I wish my Bridgeton Dreams came true.”
I knew it was cheesy, but that was my wish. Being there was only half of it as I kept beating myself up for not doing everything in my power to find a Bridgerton-themed dress. If there’s one thing my mother taught me, it was to dress the part.
While waiting for the dancers to return, I stayed glued to the black and white dance floor. I did not want to miss it, and thank god I did because I was front and center. The dancers danced with so much drama and emotion I quickly forgot about the monstrosity I was wearing and felt as if I was actually in the world of Bridgerton. A girl could dream as that would be the closest thing I would ever get to having the full experience.
Before and whilst waiting for the dancers to come out a group of girlfriends talked about the Bridgerton Experience that happened a year prior saying how at the last one everyone had to be dressed up, and bow to the queen upon arriving just like in the series. That’s how the queen picked her Diamond. To be picked as the diamond of the season was a big accomplishment as the queen would pay you as much attention, and personally help you find a decent match.
Preferably a king.
The diamond the queen ended up picking was a girl whose dress lit up and sparkled being the perfect candidate to make “Diamond Of The Ball” after standing out. The way they talked made me a different kind of sad because that experience is more than likely not to come back at least to New York. After completing three activities guests were allowed to enter the lottery to see the premier of the first episode of the new season. A free event which led to another free event that I will never forget.
How could I? The event planners knew what they were doing to make Bridgerton fans feel lucky!. .And it worked.
