Sitting on the edge of your seat “Sinister” was an epic movie. Ethan Hawke was made for the role of Ellison, a writer which was creating a new book. It was going to be about a serial killer, he moved to a home where one of the recent murders took place. In the opening you see one of the murders take place, at first glance you are unsure of what happened and how they died. Ethan Hawke’s character is trying to researcher how this happened and becomes paranoid as he uncovers more clues. in the process of his research he learns that there are other murders that happened. he learns the victims were people who lived in the same house at different times. he ends up finding an old projector with what he thinks are family movies from the previous owners, but he learns it is a specific video that contains family events one from each previous family. each of the titles of the family movies (Family Hanging Out ’11, Pool Party ’66, BBQ ’79, and Lawn Work ’86) with clever names that showed the deaths of the families. he uncovers there is two things that are unique to each film, the youngest child disappears and a mysterious figure is there, this frightens Hawke’s character. His family thought the happened becomes of a drinking a problem. Tracy (Ellison’s spouse), played by Juliet Rylance, starts to blame the research Ellison is doing has a negative influence on the children Trevor, played by Michael Hall D’Addario, and Ashley, played by Clare Foley. Michael’s character is having night tremors and Clare’s character is drawing images. this movie had great scenes that made you waiting on the edge of your seats waiting and other scenes made you scared. this was a unique story plot but contained one element that is played out in all horror films, the one character that is paranoid. the acting was a 8 out of 10. the visual effects was a 10 out of 10. editing was a 6 out of 10 this is only because some of the scenes were not transitioned very well, and in one scene you where able to see the reflection of the camera. You were able to see the camera while the main character was walking in front of a mirror. Usually you would do the scene again.
