As the weather becomes warmer and final exams begin to approach, it’s time to push the books aside for one week of fun activities on campus.
Spring Fling hosted by Mercy Campus Life and Student Government will take place April 21-25 with a pair of fun activities on campus each day. Students have the chance to engage with the community and being relaxed for a week of entertainment provided by the school that no one wants to miss out on.
Last year’s Spring Fling was headline by a concert performance from Young Ma and Campus Life met with Student Government to plan a week of activities this semester to improve students’ engagement on campus.
Mercy Student Director Dayanara Ramirez discusses the impact of Spring Fling giving the students activities on campus while wrapping up class in the spring semester.
“Spring Fling is about having fun and Student Government along with Campus Life does a great job of putting together a week of activities every year,” said Ramirez.
The week begins with a picnic at Tim & Hall Pavillion where students can grab some food and listen to music. Across from the event watch Mercy softball play a doubleheader on the field. Later in the night, come to the Commuter Lounge for Casino Night to play games and some entertainment. Students have the chance to win prizes in these classic games whether you are experienced or new to playing.
The next day, come check out Baseball Tailgate to watch Mercy baseball play New Haven on mercy field. People can make flyers and get ice cream at the game. After the game, there is a Club Putlock exchange outside of Hudson Hall to hang out with all the clubs and exchange ideas. The Putlock will serve food, crafting, and anything that students want they can bring with them to the event.
On Wednesday, Student Government will host a game show where students answer questions and compete to win prizes. Each prize will range between $25-50 and a t-shirt. If you still not done with the morning, Hudson Cafe in the Main Hall will have another late-night breakfast.
Thursday begins early with air dry clay making in the lounge for students to unwind from class, bring creative minds and take the craft home for family or friends. At the end of the day, Bonfire and open mic will take place outside the Hudson Hall on the patio for late night fun.
Ramirez gives an insight on Thursday night’s event that she is looking forward to the most in Spring Fling.
“Students can perform acoustic covers from the spoken word and showcase their talents into front of their peers. Non-performers may cheer on the singers and enjoy making s’mores to soak up the vibe,” said Ramirez
Spring Fling wraps on Friday with a Block Party that will include fun, engaging activities for the students to feel relaxed going into the weekend. The event will include inflatable games, food trucks, cotton candy, photobooth for the community to share, rides and much more to come.
All the events and activities will be on campus for this week only so don’t be afraid to attend any of the fun entertainment by the Campus Life and Student Government.
