Mercy College Named National 2012-2013 College Of Distinction
Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. – Mercy College is celebrated as a 2012-2013 College of Distinction for its engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community and successful outcomes. The 2012-2013 academic year marks the second consecutive year that Mercy College has been recognized with this accolade by the college guide.
“Mercy College has a commitment to academic excellence and student success,” said Mercy College President Dr. Kimberly R. Cline. “As a nationally recognized institution with a broad array of graduate and undergraduate programs, the College is distinguished by its unique environment for learning. Mercy College prepares students for success through active and engaged learning, real-world experiences, and its vibrant campus community.”
The College of Distinction guide defines such colleges as schools that are “nationally recognized by education professionals as excellent, strongly focused on teaching undergraduates, home to a wide variety of innovative learning experiences, an active campus with many opportunities for personal development, and highly valued by employers for its outstanding preparation.”
This honor comes at a time of tremendous momentum at Mercy College, recently named a Smart Choice by “Peterson’s Honors Programs and Colleges Guide” and a Best Bet in Higher Education by “Cool College Guide.” Mercy College boasts tremendous successes for its graduates, including a recent National Teacher of the Year and 95% employment rate for graduates from the School of Health and Natural Sciences. The visionary PACT program, the first of its kind, was featured as a Best Practice by the National Association of Colleges and Employers and now serves as a nationally recognized model for student mentoring. Mercy College counts several Fulbright scholars among its faculty and student body and the College was recently awarded one of the highest grants in New York State’s “Race to the Top” competition.
“Mercy College’s visionary and nationally-recognized PACT program is dedicated to student success, retention and active learning—the same pillars that are at the foundation of the College of Distinction guide,” said Mercy College Executive Director of Student Success and Engagement Andrew Person. “This distinction is a testament to the accomplishments of our students, exciting opportunities in our college community, and our cutting edge programs.”
