Dobbs Ferry was united as one throughout the entirety of Main and Cedar street on Oct. 5 for the Ferry Feta. Cedar and Main Street was closed down to celebrate the beautiful Dobbs Ferry scene with every store having its own pop-ups was a site to see.
Ferry Festa came to be known as it originated in 2002, the year after the tragedy of 9/11. This was a way to express community and bring everyone together during a challenging time. Ferry Festa is considered to be a celebration and to remind everyone of the power of community. Amazing live music, smiles plastered across the citizens of Dobbs Ferry, and outstanding food was an experience like no other.
Community members were thrilled and willing to be talking about the impact of the event.
One of the most energetic and happy pop up vendors was Ryu Renshi- Dan Karate. Ethan Zuri, an instructor at the Dojo, loved meeting new and interested people from the area.
“We at Ryu Renshi-Dan Karate are having an amazing time here at the Ferry Festa enjoying our amazing booth here.”
Zuri and the rest of the dojo had some interesting weapons that one could try out which put a smile on every kid’s face.
“At our booth, we have a bunch of weapons and uniforms along with a bunch of other stuff lined up. So, come on down and sign up at Ryu Renshi-Dan Karate.”
One of the beauties of Ferry Festa was that one could meet all of these different walks of life along with organizations. Steven Semenza from The Pawfect had a blast.
“The Dobbs Ferry Festa has been filled with great people, great crowds, and great weather.”
Steven went on to tell about The Pawfect’s amazing mission.
“So, we are a special degraded coffee company that donates twenty-five percent of our profits to two animal shelters. The organization couldn’t be happier to spread our mission here today, the amazing Ferry Festa.”
He says the profits go to the Humane Society of Westchester and NY Pet Rescue.
The local Dobbs Ferry Stop and Shop had their own pop up supporting breast cancer awareness. Greeting visitors with conversation as Christine Arana, a full-time employee at Stop and Shop.
“ We are here at Ferry Fest for breast cancer awareness since it is October. We are having an amazing time.”
The pop up had its own spin-the-wheel where one could win prizes such as can koozies. Arana went on to share a little more about her experience at the Ferry Fest.
“This entire experience has just been amazing, filled with even better people than I could have imagined. This atmosphere is truly amazing to be a part of. “
Ferry Festa was truly just a commutative experience that expresses so much joy. It brings people together to have a drink, eat, and talk to one another. That’s the point of the whole event, to bring people together to remind everyone that you are not alone. The town of Dobbs Ferry is truly a unique yet loving town.
