DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Sept. 24, 2013) – Mercy College women’s soccer team ranked ninth in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America/ Continental Tire East Region Poll.

The Mavericks improved to 6-0, and 2-0 to start conference play. The Mavericks rallied from an early 1-0 deficit, for a 3-1 victory over NYIT on September 18. Mercy then ran the current winless Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas off the field in a 4-0 shutout victory on September 21.

Senior Jackie Karras (Nesconset, N.Y. / Smithtown East) was named the East Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week after totaling five points on two goals and on assist in the Mavericks victories over NYIT and St. Thomas Aquinas. Junior Jennifer Vega (Norwalk, Calif. / Cerritos College) and sophomore Nicole Augustine (Kingston, N.Y. / Kingston) made the East Coast Conference Honorable Mention List of Week 3.

Head Coach Jonathan Feinstein and the Mavericks return to action on Saturday September 28, as they travel to Bridgeport, Conn. to face the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights (5-1) in a battle of top two teams in the East Coast Conference.
