President Cline’s Resignation Letter

Dear Members of the Mercy College Community,

Mercy College has transformed into a strong and vibrant college.  I am so proud of our outstanding accomplishments which continue to be recognized.  So, it is with a heavy heart that I announce I am leaving Mercy College at the end of the academic year to join Long Island University as their president.

I came to Mercy because I knew it had great potential and felt that with the right blend of creativity, discipline, commitment to quality and belief in what we do, together we could make a big impact.  For five years, I have had the privilege of working with motivated and engaged students, an inspiring team of world-renowned faculty, strong staff and a wonderful community.  Together we have launched our nationally-recognized and award-winning PACT program; achieved the College’s first-ever ‘A’ rating from Standard & Poor’s; been recognized by the White House as part of the President’s 2013 Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll; brought interest in Mercy College to an all-time high; and so much more.  Mercy is at its strongest, and I know that the College has the positive momentum and the committed faculty and staff to take it much, much further.
If you know me, you know that I always think there is more to do, something more that can be improved.  No time would be ideal to step away from this great institution, but I am confident in its future because it is in your hands.
To ensure a seamless transition, the Board of Trustees will be organizing a presidential search process in the coming weeks.  In the meantime, I trust that the leadership team will continue to lead Mercy College to an even brighter future.  I will be cheering Mercy on and look forward to a long and happy association with the College.
Regards,

Kimberly R. Cline
President
