BRONX, N.Y., JANUARY 31 2012 – Eight local colleges will unite to host The First Annual Bronx College Fair at Mercy College’s Bronx Campus (1200 Waters Place) on Saturday, February 4th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Bronx College Fair is part of the Bronx Education Summit led by Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and will showcase higher education opportunities available to high school seniors and parents in the Bronx.

Participants in The Bronx College Fair include: Bronx Community College, College of New Rochelle, Fordham University, Hostos Community College, Lehman College, Mercy College, Monroe College, and SUNY Maritime College.

“Hosting The Bronx College Fair is just one of the many ways in which Mercy College strives to be of service to the Bronx community,” said Mercy College President Dr. Kimberly R. Cline. “We’re proud to partner with local colleges to provide what we hope will be an invaluable source of information for interested students and their parents.”

The Fair will feature information booths about all of the colleges, and representatives from all the participating schools will be on hand to answer questions. There will also be two workshops, which will run twice throughout the day, that give participants advice on financial aid and tips for filling out college applications.

Students who apply to Mercy College while at The Fair will have their application fee waived that day, while students who have previously applied to Mercy College will have the opportunity to get an immediate on-site admission decision from one of Mercy College’s Admissions Officers.

This year’s Fair is scheduled to be the first of many that will take place in the Bronx over the next several years. Subsequent Fairs will be hosted at the other participating colleges.
